Welcome to the first issue of Waking-Up Magazine.
The magazine is devoted to awareness. This is a focus that aims to acknowledge that the spiritual
path means different things to different people. Awareness of what? Awareness, perhaps, of life itself.
For some people the spiritual path is about knowing God, while others recoil at the very mention of the
word. For others it’s perhaps exploring the Tao, the Dharma or knowing that which is.
For some it’s about fully living each moment as it arises, gracefully letting the experience go as it
passes, never a backward glance.
For others, it’s a simple choice to appreciate our lives, trusting that we are loved by life itself and trusting that we are given exactly what we need in every moment. For some it’s all of these things.
But for everyone, when we experience the absolute truth of ourselves, we are all experiencing the same
reality. The words and the imagery may be different, but the reality is the same. A common feature of people experiencing truth more deeply is one of increasing awareness – awareness of what is.
Awareness is simple stuff, really.
We all have it! You are aware of this page in front of you and may even have a subtle sense of the writer as you read. With increasing awareness there is no need to argue over whether the truth of life is this way or that, we simply observe it as it is.
What else is there to say?
We intend our pages to express the beauty of life in a myriad of different ways; we intend to be real about the challenges that arise in our paths, inviting us to know ourselves more deeply; we intend to have some fun.
Focus for This Issue
Each issue will have a focus section devoted to a particular spiritual topic.
In this first issue, we focus on The Ishayas’ Ascension – chosen partly because it’s a topic that several members of the Waking-Up team are familiar with and also because it’s a remarkable teaching offering a simple but remarkable set of meditative tools for accelerating spiritual growth.
We asked as many people as possible with experience of the Ishayas’ Ascension to write in.
We were delighted with the response – the only problem was that it was a real struggle getting contributors to send in pictures of themselves or some illustration to accompany their text! You’ll see for yourselves how much luck we had…
But common to all the Ascension contributions is a sense that the writers are genuinely coming from a place
of deep connection with life, from a sense of oneness and communion with Source, from the knowledge that they are not their bodies, not the personalities that are expressing words into a computer.
